Denim is a relatively thick color woven twill cotton fabric with a deep warp color, usually indigo blue, and a light weft color, usually light gray or boiled white yarn. Also known as indigo labor cloth. It originated in the western United States and was named after herders who used it to make clothing. The warp yarn adopts a combination of sizing and a one-step dyeing process, with yarn counts of 80tex (7 English counts), 58tex (10 English counts), 36tex (16 English counts), etc; The weft yarn count includes 96tex (6 count), 58tex (10 count), and 48tex (12 count), using a 3/1 weave. There are also denim fabrics with variable twill, plain, or crepe weave. The fabric is pre-shrink treated, with a smaller shrinkage rate than regular fabrics, and has a tight, thick texture, bright color, and clear weave.
